We had the honour to be invited to present Ecliptic Defence and Space and its activities at the “Hermes Project and Cyprus Defence Ecosystem,” organized and hosted by eBOS, the Coordinator of the HERMES EDIDP Project, which took place on June 18th, 2024, at the Hilton Hotel, Nicosia.
During the collaborative event, the HERMES project and its achievements were presented. Cyprus entities participating in the EDF & EDIDP Programmes had the opportunity to showcase their work. Distinguished representatives from the European Commission and the Cyprus Ministry of Defence attended, as well as the Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Skourides.

We had the great honor of welcoming the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Vasilis Palmas, Ecliptic Defence and Space's premises on Friday 7th of February. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Charalambous, Mr. George Stavrou, Mr. Damianos Odysseos from the Defence Industry Development Department, and Mr. Eleftherios Eleftheriou from the Research and Innovation Department of the Ministry of Defence. This visit was particularly significant as it marked the first time a Cypriot Minister of Defence toured our facilities. We were privileged to present our team, our work, our strategic vision and future objectives, underlying our commitment to developing leading-edge innovations in the defence and space sector.
The honor of having the Minister at Ecliptic Defence and Space, is particularly great as we strongly believe that tight collaboration between the defence industry and the government is vital. It is imperative for any defence company, regardless of its size, to align its business objectives with the national security priorities.
..."The primary challenge for Cyprus is to strategically and effectively integrate national and European developed cutting-edge innovations and defence technologies and swiftly establish advanced production cycles within the local defence ecosystem that will support the current and future needs/gaps of the Cyprus National Guard and those of the European armed forces. This strategic approach is crucial for ensuring that the Government remains proactive rather than being caught off guard repeatedly by disruptive technological advancements elsewhere or within adversarial forces..." A short part of our interview published in the IMH Business Gold Magazine highlighting the Cyprus Defence Industry.
Ecliptic Defence and Space was honoured to participate in the Cyprus – UK Bilateral Cooperation Event, held last week in Nicosia as part of the European Cooperating State (ECS) Agreement.
This important initiative brought together key stakeholders from Cyprus and the United Kingdom to explore synergies and deepen collaboration in space technologies.
The CEO/ Technical Director of Ecliptic Defence and Space, Dr. Andreas Papanastasiou had the opportunity to present the company's capabilities, share insights into ongoing hardware developments, and highlight current needs and strategic goals for building new collaborative synergies across Europe and in the region.
As Cyprus moves closer to achieving Associate Membership status with the European Space Agency, we recognize this major milestone as the result of the dedicated efforts by the Department of Electronic Communications under the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
Historic Moment for Ecliptic Defence and Space and the Cyprus Space Ecosystem!
We are in France this week for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the very first Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) that will ever be delivered to Cyprus, and we couldn’t be more excited!
This cutting-edge system represents a giant leap forward for Ecliptic’s space capabilities, enabling advanced environmental testing for our components and subsystems right on home soil.
For us, this advanced equipment is not just a tool, it’s a gateway to implementing our strategic vision, enabling us to perform critical space qualification testing in-house for our space hardware. It positions our company at the forefront of space technology development in the region, reducing reliance on foreign facilities and significantly accelerating R&D timelines. The ability to simulate the harsh environment of space-vacuum, extreme temperatures, and thermal cycling, is essential for ensuring mission success. With this TVAC, we can guarantee the reliability and performance of our space developments, meeting international standards and gaining the trust of future customers and partners.
Huge respect to the brilliant engineering team at Weiss Technik France for their professionalism and precision.
This is more than a test, it's the start of a new era. The future of space in Cyprus is officially taking off!
